Young riders turned out in force for the first British Showjumping competition of 2017 on January 7 at the Cabin Equestrian Centre, Inverurie.
The show included ‘Just For Schools’ (JFS) league classes which are open to both teams and individuals, whereby junior riders compete in a league table for places at the National Schools Team and Individual Finals.
Headlining the opening class of the day – the club pony 70cm – was Rachel Wilson on Megland Gracious. Tiggy Wallace headed the first Schools league class on the grey Bojangles II.
In the spotlight in not one but four classes was Laura Patterson on the coloured Farra IV. Laura led the way in both the club pony 80cm and schools 80cm league class, taking second in the club pony 90cm to Deeside-based Crista Lockhead Anderson on Tattie Desire, and fourth in the schools 90cm league class.
Caillie Lorimer had a successful show on two horses – My Diamond Geezer in the schools 90cm and 1m league classes. She also came second to herself in the 1m class on Mr Budizer.
Charley Hamilton notched up two firsts and two double clears on Kayem Fridays Dance in both the pony novice championship first round/80cm open and the Blue Chip pony newcomers/1m open. Charley also secured second place on Taraco Emerald in the pony foxhunter/1.10m open.
Ciara Miller led the way in the Haygain pony discovery first round/90cm open on Going Platinum. Meanwhile, Jenna Ross headed the pony foxhunter/1.10m open on Braveheart Warrior after having notched up a second place to Charley in the Blue Chip pony newcomers.
The final class of the day – the schools 1.10m league class – went to Olivia Guntrip on Brynmeillion Darius after a third place in the preceding class, the pony foxhunter.
