The new Morayshire and Sutherland monitor farms are hosting their first meetings next week.
The monitor farms, which will host their inaugural meetings on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, were set up as part of a three-year scheme being run by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) and AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds.
Funded by a £1.25million grant from the Scottish Government, the monitor farms programme will operate nine farms across Scotland with the aim of helping improve the productivity, profitability and sustainability of Scottish farm businesses.
The Morayshire monitor farm at Corskie, by Garmouth, Fochabers, is run by Iain Green and family.
The extensive business comprises a wide range of arable and livestock enterprises including the renowned pedigree herd of Corskie Simmental cattle.
The meeting takes place at the farm between 1.30pm and 4.30pm. Places can be booked by contacting Samantha Stewart on 01343 548 787.
Meanwhile, the Sutherland monitor farm is run by Jason and Vic Ballantyne, alongside Jason’s father Murdo, at Clynelish Farm, Brora.
The first meeting at the farm, which carries 900 ewes and 80 suckler cows, starts at Brora Scout Hall at 11am before moving to the farm and finishing at 2.30pm.
Places for the meeting can be booked by contacting Cat MacGregor or Willie Budge on 01847 892602.
