This year is the first time all the sales have taken place in one day at the Stirling Bull Sales and United Auctions’ new co-owner, John Roberts said it had been a big success with the momentum carried right through until the last animal was sold at 5.30pm.
British Limousin Society Chief Executive, Ian Kerr agreed and said that the 91% clearance of Limousin bulls reflected the fact that buyers were happy to have the show and sale on one day. The 62 bulls sold averaged £5,102, which was up £427 on the year for nine more sold.
Mr Kerr said: “There was a very strong commercial trade, driven by the new abattoir specifications for lighter finishing weights, which suits the Limousin breed.”
The overall and intermediate champion Limousin from Bruce Goldie, Townfoot, Dumfries, made the best price of 12,000gn to fellow breeder, Jimmy MacGregor, The Dyke, Milton of Campsie.
