Two senior members of staff of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society have resigned within days of each other.
An announcement on the society’s website confirmed that chief executive Johnny Mackey, who joined the society in 2015, has stepped down “in order to pursue other opportunities”.
It read: “Mr Mackey would like to thank the society staff and particularly the presidents with whom he has worked, David Evans, Tom Arnott and Alex Sanger, for all the hard work and support showed to him throughout his employment.
“The society’s executive committee will, in the short term, be managing the business of the society, until a time when an announcement can be made as to official lines of management.”
News of Mr Mackey’s departure was made less than a week after the society’s communications manager, Chrissie Long, resigned from her post.
Mrs Long will work her three-month notice period and leave the society on May 19.
