Muller begins process to develop dairy farmer representation
ByPhilippa Merry
Dairy giant Muller has begun creating a new representative group that will give a louder voice to its farmer suppliers.
A total of 50 farmers have registered interest in standing on the 21-strong Muller Farmers Forum (MMF), which is expected to be in place by mid-April
Balloting will take place within the regions where there are multiple candidates to narrow down numbers ahead of an election process to determine the ultimate forum members.
The new MMG Forum will be responsible for electing a Muller Milk Group Board and will have the right to determine the future representative structure for the group’s 1,900 farmer suppliers.
Rob Hutchison, Muller’s agriculture director, said the company had been “very encouraged” by the level of interest farmers had shown in joining the MMF.
“We are confident the Forum will bring strong representation of the farmers who supply us,” he said.
