Massey Ferguson showcased its new 6700 S Series range of tractors at the SIMA Show in Paris.
The range, which is said to include the world’s first 200hp four-cylinder agricultural tractor, comprises six models all powered by the latest AGCO Power 4.9-litre four-cylinder engine.
Massey said the engines were capable of generating maximum powers ranging from 120hp to 175hp, with engine power management (EPM), boosting output on all models up to a maximum of 200hp on the largest tractor in the range – the MF 6718 S.
The company went on to land the show’s coveted machine of the year award in the mid-power tractor category with the MF 6718 S.
“It is a real honour to have this tractor recognised in this way,” said Massey Ferguson vice president Thierry Lhotte.
“At 200hp the MF 6718 S is the most powerful four-cylinder tractor on the market. It is truly unique in offering the highest power from a four-cylinder engine, while delivering the torque of a six-cylinder. This also makes it the most manoeuvrable 200hp tractor available.”
The company’s director of marketing services, Campbell Scott, said the “S Effect” in the tractor’s most modern design meant the model offered improvements in every area.
He said: “Massey Ferguson invented the concept of the high power, four-cylinder tractor, with the original MF 6600 breaking new ground and creating a completely new class of 150hp-plus tractors. Now, with the “S Effect” we are further advancing performance this sector up to 200hp on the MF 6718 S.
“The advanced engine develops its maximum power at just 2,000rpm and generates maximum torque at 1,500rpm, which means it delivers exceptional fuel economy combined with superb pulling power – and with plenty in reserve. This provides users with the operating benefits associated with larger, longer and heavier six-cylinder tractors, but in a compact and extremely light machine.
“The only comparison with the MF 6600 Series is its looks. The MF 6700 S Series contains considerable changes and new developments in engine design, transmission choice, hydraulic output, four-speed PTO and superb cab comfort.”
The MF 6718 S features a 2.67m wheelbase with a turning point radius of just 4.75m.
