The Scottish Association of Young Farmers’ Clubs (SAYFC) has appointed a new chairwoman for the north region.
Turriff Young Farmers’ Club member Kim Taylor takes on the role with Michael Gunn, of Forss Young Farmers Club, appointed as her vice-chairman. She replaces Lynne Macarthur, of Nairn, in the role.
Ms Taylor said she had three key objectives for the year ahead – to boost community engagement, to increase understanding of speechmaking and increased participation from the north region in national competitions.
Speaking at the annual meeting of the north region, Lynne Macarthur said: “I would like to thank you all for your hard work and support at north events throughout the year – without you the competitions and events would not be possible.”
A number of awards for regional recruitment and participation were presented to clubs at the meeting. First place for regional recruitment went to Strathspey, with a 29% increase in membership. Garioch came second with a 26% increase and Ross Sutherland came third with a 20% increase.
First place for regional participation went to Turriff with a score of 45, followed by Vale of Alford in second place and Keith in third.
