A well-known family of Simmental breeders from the north of Scotland took home the top price at the national spring show and sale of Simmental cattle at Carlisle.
The Green family – Jimmy and Nan and their son Iain and his daughters – achieved a top price of 5,600gn for a home-bred October-2015 born bull from the Corskie herd, which is based at Garmouth, near Fochabers in Moray.
Corskie Glacier, by the 22,000gn Dirnanean Bradley and out of Corskie Winter, sold to J. W. Davison and Sons, Hartley West Farm, Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear.
The Greens also achieved 4,800gn when Corskie Gus sold to A. and P. Munro Farms, Caplich Farm, Alness, Ross-shire.
September-2015 born Gus is a son of the 45,000gn Bel Dhu Capercaillie and out of Corskie Candenc.
Another Scottish family enjoying success at the sale at Harrison and Hetherington’s Borderway Mart was the Goldie family from Newbie Mains Farm, Annan, Dumfriesshire.
Jim and Patricia Goldie’s July-2015 born Newbiemains Glitz went under the hammer for 5,000gn selling to the Trotters at Hoselaw Farm, Kelso. He is by Blackford Albatross and out of Newbiemains Blitz.
In total 22 bulls sold to average £3,507.95
