A young farming couple from Fife took home the champion and reserve rosettes at yesterday’s show and sale of commercial beef breeding cattle at Thainstone.
Craig Malone and Katreen Millar, of Pitcairn Farm, Cardenden, Lochgelly, were first time exhibitors at the Aberdeen and Northern Marts fixture.
Judges David and Charlotte Cooper, of Govals, Kincaldrum, Forfar, awarded the champion rosette to Mr Malone and Ms Millar’s British Blue cross heifer with Limousin bull calf at foot. The outfit sold for £4,800 to Dunbeath Farms in Caithness.
The duo were awarded the reserve title for a Limousin cross heifer with a Limousin bull calf at foot. The pair sold to the judges for £3,200.
