A team from Bower Young Farmers’ Club lifted the top title at the Scottish Association of Young Farmers’ Clubs (SAYFC) Highland Rally.
The rally, organised by the Caithness District, took place at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ base in the north – the Caithness Livestock Centre at Quoybrae.
Bower YFC was awarded the top title at the rally – the Hamilton Auction Mart Trophy. Second place went to Halkirk and third went to Inver Ross.
The rally started with the industrial section, with contests for baking and handicrafts.
Lifting the Nan Howie Silver Salver for the most points in the baking section was Halkirk, followed by Bower in second place and Inver Ross in third.
The Press and Journal Rose Bowl for the club with the most points in the industrial section went to Bower, with Halkirk in second place and Inver Ross in third.
In the stock judging competition the Farming News Trophy for the highest placed team went to a group from Bower comprising Douglas Webster, Scott Webster and James Gunn. Second place went to another Bower team, this time comprising Greg Robertson, William Campbell and Murray Coghill. A team from Inver Ross, made up of Craig Nicol, Mac Campbell and Ali McIver, stood third.
The best individual in the stock judging, and winner of the Day Challenge Cup, was Bower YFC member Douglas Webster, followed by Michael Gunn, of Forss, in second place. Third place was awarded jointly to Bruce Callum, of Inver Ross, and James Gunn, of Bower.
Fiona Sinclair, of Halkirk, was the highest placed female, followed by Debbie Falconer, of Strathspey, in second place and Emma Coghill, of Halkirk, and Beth Douglas, of Bower, in joint third place.
Juniors was won by Kyle Cruickshank, of Strathspey, with William Campbell, of Bower, in second place and Colin Mackay, also from Bower, in third place.
A range of practical competitions also took place at the rally including contests for digger driving, square bale stacking, fault finding, identification and welding.
Bower also triumphed in this taking the top spot, followed by Forss in second place and Halkirk in third position.
In the sports section Halkirk won the five-a-side football, with Strathspey in second place. A team from Halkirk was also placed first in the girls five-a-side football, with Bower in second place.
The winning team in the tug o war contest was Halkirk, followed by Forss in second place. The overall winner for the sports section was Bower. Halkirk came second and Forss and Strathspey were third equal.
