Two well-known faces in the north-east farming community will go head to head in the kitchen at next week’s Royal Highland Show.
Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ auctioneer Colin Slessor and trainee auctioneer Scott Chapman will take part in a culinary dual at Quality Meat Scotland’s (QMS) Scotch Kitchen cookery theatre on Friday June 23 at 11.40am.
The pair took part in a similar contest at the Taste of Grampian food and drink festival earlier this month, with Mr Slessor beating Mr Chapman with his pork burger dish.
TV and radio presenter Bryan Burnett will provide commentary for next week’s contest, having done the same at the Taste of Grampian showdown a few weeks ago.
QMS chairman Jim McLaren urged members of the farming community to come and support the pair next week.
He said: “Colin and Scott’s culinary antics at Taste of Grampian, including the creation of a new north-east delicacy – caramelised neep – had the audience hugely entertained.
“We are looking forward to welcoming them to the stand and to sampling the dishes they create with Scotch Beef PGI and Scotch Lamb PGI plus, of course, the contents of the mystery bags they will be offered on the day.”
Both auctioneers rose to fame after appearing in the highly popular TV programme, The Mart.
