Read all the beef and dairy cattle results from this year’s Royal Highland Show.
Beef Shorthorn: Tracy Severn, Brick Green, Halifax, with a two-year-old bull, Millerston Jester by Meonhill Charlie Chaplin, out of Millerston Gretta Freya. He was interbreed champion at Honley last week and reserve junior champion at the Highland last year.
Reserve – James Porter, Upper Ballinderry, Lisburn, Antrim, with a 14-month-old heifer, Uppermill Blythesome Kim by Dunsyre Demetri out of Uppermill Blythesome Jemma, being shown for the first time.
Highland: Ranch Livestock, Letham, Angus, with a two-year-old heifer, Eleanor of Ubhaidh, by Fergus of Ubhaidh, out of Alice 1st of Earn. She was reserve champion at Alyth.
Reserve – H. M. The Queen, Balmoral Estate, Ballater, with a six-year-old bull, Prionnsa Dubh of Craigowmill by Panther 2nd Vom Aignerhof, out of Lady Alma Dubh 2nd of Craigowmill. He was reserve champion at the Highland two years ago and also at the national breed show.
Hereford: Tom and Di Harrison, Eltringham, Northumberland, with a 22 month-old heifer, Coley 1 Pippa, by Days Calibre, out of Frenchstone P 1 Boo. She was champion at Northumberland Show.
Reserve – Heather Whittaker, Coley Walks, Halifax, with a four-year-old cow with September-born bull calf at-foot, Coley 1 Clara by Blakelaw 1 Calzaghe out of Barbern 1 Claret 2nd. She was reserve champion at Northumberland.
Charolais: John and Raymond Irvine, Inverlochy, Ballindalloch, with a three-and-a-half-year-old bull, Kilbline 1 Instigator, by Oscar, out of Kilbline Ursula. He was male champion at the Highland last year and interbreed champion at various shows in the north.
Reserve – Jim Muirhead and Alison Gray, Firhills, Arbroath, with a two-year-old heifer, Firhills Lady, by Maerdy Grenadier out of Ugie Heidi. She was reserve interbreed champion at Angus show.
Simmental: David Craig, Kennox Cottage, Stewarton, with a rising two-year-old heifer, Kennox Tara’s Gem, by Sowenna Aristocrat, out of Annick Helen’s Tara. She was interbreed champion at Neilston and Stewarton shows.
Reserve – Billy, Anne and Raymond MacPherson, Blackford, Inverness, with a two-year-old bull, Blackford Galaxy, by Curlieu Knight, out of Blackford Aero, being shown for the first time.
British Blonde: Conor and Shane Savage, Ballynahinch, Co Down, with a three-year-old bull, Shanvalley Jagger, by Seaview Barney, out of Applecroft Breeze. He was champion at Balmoral.
Reserve – Alan Walker, Gleniffer Little Heateth, Auchinleck, with a three-year-old cow, Overton Jess, by Doncombe Aga Khan out of Ivaniskey Vanessa, she won her class at the Highland last year.
Salers: Ernest and John Elliot, Newtonstewart, Co Tyrone, with a two-year-old heifer, Drumlegagh Kyra, by Fanfan, out of Drrumlegagh Elise. She was junior champion at the Highland and Balmoral last year.
Reserve – Alastair MacKenzie, Whitebog, Fortrose, with a rising two-year-old bull, Whitebog Karbolic, by Whitebog Sandy, out of Whitebog Gwen, being shown for the first time.
Galloway: John, Ann and Iain Finlay, Blackcraig, Castle Douglas, with a rising seven-year-old bull, Blackcraig Sid, by Blackcraig Nimrod, out of Finmac Libby. He was champion at the Highland and at the National Galloway Show last year.
Reserve – Jim, Selina and Douglas Ross, Romesbeoch, Dumfries, with a rising three-year-old cow, Nerys 1668 of Romesbeoch, by Turbo Tam of Nether Cleugh, out of Nerys 418 of Romesbeoch, being shown for the first time.
Belted Galloway: Mochrum Estates, Newton Stewart, with a four-year-old cow in-calf, Mochrum Lilac 6th, by Lullenden Randall, out of Mochrum Lila. She was champion at the Highland in 2015.
Reserve – Bill and Jane Landers, Bargaly, Newton Stewart, with a 19-month-old bull, Cairnsmore Jack Flash, by Ryehills Elliot, out of Lullend Apple Dumpling, being shown for the first time.
Limousin: Mike and Melanie Alford, Foxhill, Collumpton, Devon, with a 17-month-old heifer, Foxhillfarm Mamamia, by Foxhillfarm Irish Lad out of Glenrock Illussion. She was junior champion at Stars of the Future in November.
Reserve – Mike and Melanie Alford, with a rising two-year-old heifer, Foxhillfarm Looksthepart, by Guards Boomer, out of Foxhillfarm Gracie, she has won many championships.
British Blue: Kevin Watret, Northfield Park, Annan, with a rising four-year-old cow, Solway View Illusion, by Solway View Dynamite, out of Solway View Euphoria. She was in the winning team of three at the Highland last year.
Reserve – Charlotte Alford, Foxhill, with a two-year-old heifer in-calf, Rhymill Kylie, by Gitan Du P’tit Mayeur, out of Lakeview Dancer. She was champion at Devon and Royal Cornwall.
Commercial: Jennifer Hyslop, Balluskie, Girvan, with an 18-month-old heifer, Golden Girl, by a Charolais sire out of a Limousin cross cow. She was champion at Dalry, Stewarton, Newmilns and Straiton this year.
Reserve – Dermot and Gareth Small, Kilkeel, Co. Down, with a yearling heifer, un-named by Swarland Eddie out of an unknown dam, she was first at Balmoral.
Aberdeen-Angus: Alistair and Doreen Cormack, Pratis Cottages, Leven, with a yearling heifer, Carlhurlie Darcie, by Skaill Dido. out of Carlhurlie Dardanius. She was champion and reserve interbreed at Fife Show.
Reserve – John Lascelles, Balmachie, Carnoustie, with a rising three-year-old bull, Balmachie Rodger, by Balmachie Ben Vorlich, out of Balmachie Rachel. He was interbreed junior champion and beefbreeder champion at the Highland last year.
Beefbreeder: Billy and Anne MacPherson and Raymond Baynes, Blackford, Inverness, with a two-year-old Simmental bull, Blackford Galaxy, by Curlieu Knight, out of Blackford Aero. He was reserve champion on Thursday.
Reserve – Stuart Fotheringham, Ballinloan, Dunkeld, with a yearling Limousin bull, Ballinloan Mountain, by Ampertaine Foreman, out of Ballinloan Gaga. He was second in his class on Thursday.
Beef pairs: Aberdeen-Angus – John Lascelles, with Balmachie Rodger and Gordon Brooke Estate, Upper Huntlywood, Earlston, with the reserve female champion, a two-year-old heifer, Linton Gilbertines Rosebud Willabar.
Reserve – Limousin – Harry Emslie, Kinknockie, Mintlaw, with a four-year-old bull, Whiskey Infinity and Douglas and Linda Graham, Burnbank, Stirling with a three-year-old cow, Burnbank Jo Jo.
Native breed teams: Galloway – John Finlay, Blackcraig, Castle Douglas, with the champion, a seven-year-old bull, Blackcraig Sid; John and Selina Ross, Romesbeoch, Dumfries, with a six-year-old cow, Nerys 1306 of Romesbeoch; and Balavil Estate, Kingussie, with a five-year-old cow, Blackcraig Bertha.
Reserve – Hereford – Tom and Di Harrison, Eltringham, Northumberland, with the champion, a two-year-old heifer, Coley 1 Pippa; Heather Whittaker, Coley Walks, Halifax, with the reserve champion, a five-year-old cow, Coley 1 Clara; and Audrey Anderson, Easter Knox, Arbirlot, with the junior champion, a 17 month-old bull, Panmure 1 Noah.
DAIRY CATTLE
British Red and White: Brian Weatherup, Parkend, Crossgates, with a third calver, Parkend Director Starlet Red, by Scientific Director. She was champion at UK Dairy Expo last year and first at Agriscot in 2014.
Reserve – Kevin Lawrie, Brieryside, Monkton, Ayrshire, with a second calver, Redsky Land Delight, by Tiger Lily Ladd P Red. She was reserve champion heifer at the Highland last year and champion at Ayr show this year.
Ayrshire: Mungo Bryson, Whiteflat, Mauchline, Ayrshire, with a fifth calver, Changue Martha, by Changue Stadium. She was champion at Dairy Expo and reserve champion at Agriscot and Ayr.
Reserve – John Adamson, Swaites, Lanark, with a third calver, Swaites Dainty, by Nexus Dreamer, being shown for the first time.
Holstein: Robert and Elaine Butterfield, Linghaw, Lancaster, with a third calver, Newbirks Jazz, by Comestar Lauanguard. She was second at the European Championships last year and champion at Great Yorkshire.
Reserve – David Brewster, Boclair, Bearsden, with a third calver, Boclair Sid Hope, by Pine Tree Sid. She was reserve champion at the Highland last year.
Jersey: John Henning, Keith Agnew and The Fleming Family, Maghaberry, Co Armagh, with a third calver, Bluegrass Vindications Harp, by Vindication. She was champion at the Highland last year and Ayr this year and has been three times Dairy Expo champion.
Reserve – Colin Laird and Izzy Wright, Blyth, West Linton, with a second calver, Fourcrosses Anthony Carroza, by Fourcrosses Allstar Anthony. She was reserve champion at Dairy Expo.
Dairy Shorthorn: Adam Lawson, North Cassingray, Largoward, with a third calver, Winbrook VI, by Nixs LCD Lido. She was champion at Fife.
Reserve – Adam Lawson, with a fourth calver, Braefell Rosalyn, by Kirkbryde Royal Event. She was reserve champion here last year.
