Here’s a round up of the native horse breed results from the Royal Highland Show.
Clydesdale: Captain James Anderson, West Glen, Kilmacolm, with West Glen New Dawn. The eight-year-old home-bred mare is by Collessie Cut Above and out of the Winter Fair class winner Fawnspark Holly and was shown by Ron Brewster. She is in foal to Dillars Ollie.
Reserve – Harry Emmerson, c/o Collessie, Fife with the home-bred yearling colt Lutterington Harry, sired by the Arradoul Balvenie and out of Middlebank Carlogie Anna Maria. Unbeaten during 2016, stood reserve in the Cawdor Cup at the Stallion Show.
Shetland: Louise Wilson, Cassindilly Farm, Ceres, Fife, with Cassindilly Roxy. The four-year-old mare, a daughter of Southfield Valient and out of Millhouse Rhythm was champion at Angus and Central Scotland Group Show.
Reserve – Kelly Peace, Orkney with Hools Rising Tide, a seven-year-old entire son of the former Royal Highland Show champion Wells Highlight II and out of Wells Fyona. Only lightly shown the pony has previously qualified for Orkney HOYS and stood second at the National Stallion Show as a three-year-old.
Highland ponies: Shirley Clarke, Williamwood Farm, Kirtlebridge, Lockerbie, with the female champion Heather of Conway. The nine-year-old home-bred mare is by Snowydene and out of Iona of Conway and had stood supreme Highland pony at Ayr County.
Reserve – Jan and Christopher Grant, Birks Cottage Farm, Heddon Birks, Newcastle-upon-Tyne with Dunedin Mohawk. Sired by Trowan Miracle and out of Dunedin Fhouran previously stood supreme in-hand mountain and moorland at NPS Area 4 and champion at Sedgefield.
Ridden Highland: Susan Fox, c/o Markinch, Fife with the nine-year-old mare Holmedown Charlotte, by Glenmuir Buzzard and out of Holmedown Cobweb. Ridden by Kirsty Aird, she qualified for the Royal International Horse Show at the NPS Spring Show.
Reserve – John and Kate Dykes, Mendick Lea, West Linton with Isleman of Mendick. Ridden by Miss Ruth Darling the home-bred five-year-old stallion is by the Royal Highland Show champion Moss-side Iain Mhor and out of Gissing Luscardene.
Eriskay: Champion and reserve went to the McWilliam family, Wester Invervar House, Glenlyon, Perthshire. Champion was 14-year-old mare Robinia of Catlaw and reserve was Catfield Brynhild.
