A series of events outlining how tenant farmers can make use of the current improvements amnesty kick starts in Inverness later this month.
The events, organised by the Scottish Government’s Farm Advisory Service, set out to inform both tenant farmers and landowners about changes to tenancy legislation including the tenants’ improvements amnesty, which was agreed as part of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2016.
The amnesty, which opened on June 13 and runs for three years, allows for certain past improvements carried out by the tenant to be eligible for compensation at the end of tenancy despite missing notices or consents.
The first event takes place on Tuesday July 11 at the Jurys Inn in Inverness from 5.45pm to 9pm.
An event for the north-east takes place the following day at the Thainstone Centre, near Inverurie, at 5.45pm.
All events are free to attend but booking is essential by contacting the national Farm Advisory Service hub on 0300 323 0161 or email advice@fas.scot.
