Latheron Young Farmers Club has confirmed its affiliation with the Scottish Association of Young Farmers’ Clubs (SAYFC) after almost 20 years apart from the organisation.
The club has re-formed, after folding in 1999, meaning there are now four clubs in Caithness – Bower, Forss, Halkirk and Latheron.
SAYFC north chairman, Kim Taylor, said: “Huge credit is due to the group of individuals who have been instrumental in driving the reformation of the club forward.”
Club chairman Gareth Watt said: “Not only is it great to see the club up and running again, but to also be part of the wider young farmers community is fantastic. We’re really hoping to encourage potential new enthusiastic members, farmers or not, to get involved and be part of what we hope will be a successful club.”
He is supported by club vice-chairman James Sinclair, and treasurer Tamara Sinclair.
Club members recently raised more than £1,000 for charity following a sponsored climb up Morven – the highest summit in Caithness. The money is being split between the Lybster Day Care Centre and Caithness KLICS.
