Aberdeenshire breeder Stasa Moyse led the charge at the annual show and sale of Blue Texel females at Harrison and Hetherington’s Borderway Mart in Carlisle.
She took home both the overall champion rosettes and top price of 1,100gn with an imported April-2016 born gimmer from her Saltire flock at Woolhillock, Skene.
Named Saltire Blue, she is by Eijnen and out of a Dutch ewe. She sold in-lamb to Hackney Your Joking to Laura Melland, New House Farm, Onecote Road, Bottom Howe, Leek, Staffordshire.
Ms Moyse also achieved 700gn selling April-2016 born gimmer Saltire Blue Aston Martin to V.E. Lewis and Son, Llanbadarn Fyndd, Llandrindod Wells, Powys. By Foxhill Yogie and out of an imported ewe, she sold in-lamb to Hackney Your Joking.
Meanwhile, Ms Moyse’s partner, Stuart Wood, enjoyed a successful day at the Beltex Society premier in-lamb show and sale of females, which was staged at Carlisle the same day. He sold to a top of 1,600gn with February-born ewe lamb Woodies Cajun from his Woodies flock. An ET daughter of the 7,000gn Loandhu Bonzo, out of Woodies Wild Wind, she sold to James Young, Muirton, Craigievar, Alford.
Mr Wood also achieved 1,100gn selling February-born Woodies Cherry Pie.An ET daughter of Glenkeen Sanders, out of Farina V/D Drie Musschen, she is a full sister to Woodies Crystal which stood first at the Highland and sold for 2,500gn. She sold to M. and N. Gray, Game Keepers Cottage, Low Espley, Morpeth.
Mr Wood also made 1,000gn selling am embryo, by Tiree Benchmark, out of Smart Ass Welshie, to Dafydd Owen, Golygfar Dyffryn, Conwy, Gwynedd.
Orkney breeders Alton and Vera Copland, who run the Orkney flock at Overhouse, Harray, sold to a top of 1,000gn with February-2016 born Orkney Barbie Doll. An ET daughter of Corstane Whistler, out of Orkney Melony, she sold in-lamb to Langlands Bruiser to G.G. Wilkinson, Arkleby House Farm, Wigton, Cumbria.
