More than 1,000 store cattle are set to go under the hammer at the 28th anniversary show and sale of store cattle at Thainstone next week.
Aberdeen and Northern Marts (ANM), which runs the Thainstone Centre, near Inverurie, is hosting its 28th anniversary sale on Friday, January 5, 2018.
The event, which is sponsored by Thomsons of Sauchen, will be judged by Graham Brown of Reidhall, Edzell.
An entry of 1,400 store cattle is forward and the day starts with a pre-sale show at 8.30am followed by the sale at 10am, and the presentation of prizes at 12pm.
ANM’s head of livestock, John Angus, said: “We are very proud of our renowned anniversary show and sale of store cattle and the success it has become over the past 28 years within the farming community.
“We have excellent numbers forward this year, with top-quality store cattle from notable breeders, presenting a fantastic opportunity for feeders to re-stock ahead of the spring season.”
At last year’s show and sale the overall champion title was awarded to the home-bred champion – a 532kg 11-month-old Limousin bullock from L. and E. Fowlie, Guise, Muir of Fowlis. It sold for £1,520 to the pre-sale show judge Bill Cameron of Burnside of Edingight, Grange.
The reserve champion, which sold to the judge for £1,340, was a 540kg 11-month-old Limousin bullock from the Fowlies.
