The new X8 VT-Drive range of tractors from McCormick is now available to test drive and order.
McCormick said the new range was the most powerful in its line-up and the tractors are available in three engine power outputs – 264 horsepower (hp), 286hp and 310hp.
Ray Spinks from McCormick distributor AgriArgo UK said the new models had great driver appeal.
“The unique combination of fuel-efficient BetaPower by FPT engine, ZF heavy-duty transmission and high-capacity hydraulics make it a powerful performer in the field,” he added.
“Ploughing, cultivating, sowing and powering big grass mowers and other harvesting machinery will be the main roles performed by these big tractors but road work with large capacity slurry tankers, muck spreaders and trailers will also be in their remit.”
Mr Spinks said key features of the new tractors included a heavy-duty CVT transmission, different operating modes for optimum performance and fuel efficiency, and electronically-controlled hydraulics with 157-litre or 212-litre load-sensing pumps.
He added: “An integral front three-point linkage and PTO assembly on the cast steel load-bearing chassis complements the 12-tonne capacity rear three-point hitch, while tyres up 900/60 R42 on the rear axle will enable the tractors to put the power down while operating with low inflation pressures for maximum traction and soil protection.”
The models also feature the manufacturer’s “premiere cab” with a wide one-piece windscreen and a seat-mounted console with touch-screen colour display and ISOBUS capability.
Mr Spinks added: “Optional precision steering using satellite-based positioning and the high-ratio EasySteer system for less arm twirling during headland turns, are available for accurate bout-matching and least effort for a highly productive operating experience.”
He said the new tractors would be “doing the rounds” with dealers in the next few months.
