Business planning support on offer to farmers and crofters

Farmers and crofters have been urged to take advantage of free business planning support available from the government’s Farm Advisory Service (FAS).
Producers can apply for up to £2,200 to carry out integrated land management plans (ILMPs), which combine long-term business planning with strategies for efficient and sustainable land use.
One of the FAS programme managers, Caroline Wood, encouraged farmers to take advantage of the government-funded business development support on offer and said it was a proactive way to prepare themselves for the challenges of Brexit.
“Investing in your strengths, improving business efficiency and reducing costs are worthwhile actions that any business owner can take to safeguard growth and profitability in the future,” said Ms Wood.
“I’d encourage all famers and crofters in Scotland to contact us to find out how we can help them remain resilient, regardless of what the future may hold.”
She said other support available through FAS includes funding to carry out carbon audits, which help to benchmark performance.
