Aberdeen-Angus bulls sold to a top of 6,500gn and an average of £4,452 was achieved, up £98 on the year, for the 30 sold.
Sale leader was the champion, September-2016 born Tonley Ernie, by Tonley Anelka, from the Wattie family at Mains of Tonley, Alford. He sold to Jenkinson Ltd, Whingill, Hartley, Kirkby Stephen.
Thereafter 6,000gn was paid five times. First was reserve champion, selling to the Macmillans at Ballimartin Farm, Ballygrant, Islay. This was Blelack Proteus, by Hallington Principal, from Neil and Graeme Massie, Firmarron, Aboyne.
Two entries from the Wattie family’s herd also made 6,000gn. These were: Tonley Equador, by Blelack Evor, selling to Easter Tulloch Ltd, Laurencekirk; and Tonley Paprika, by Tonnley Essien, to Andrew Mylius, St Fort Home Estate, Newport on Tay. Another at 6,000gn was Belhaven Iron Man, by Billinge Magic Jack Eric, from J Gilmour & Co Ltd, Industrial Building, Penston, Macmerry. The buyer was Mountquhanie Farms, by Cupar, Fife.
Isle of Skye breeder Donald Rankin also sold to a top of 6,000gn for an entry from his Kilmaluag herd at Kilmaluag House, Duntulm, Isle of Skye.
