A charity stockjudging event in memory of the late Press and Journal farming editor, Joe Watson, is set to take place next week.
The event, organised by NFU Scotland (NFUS), takes place at the Bruce family’s Doresell Farm, near Alford, on Friday, May 18 at 6pm.
It is the fifth annual event organised by the union in memory of Joe, who died suddenly in March 2014.
The event will be a celebration of his life and work and members of the Watson family will attend to hand out prizes, including a special trophy in Joe’s name for the overall winner, to the successful competitors in the in the stockjudging contest.
Davie Winton, NFUS regional chairman for the north-east, said: “There will be something for everyone – stockjudging, farm tours, raffles, auctions and great food and drink.
“We hope NFUS members and Young Farmers Clubs turn out and support our event and help raise monies for our host farmer’s chosen charity, UCAN.”
