Highland Cattle breeders descended on Forfar Mart for the East of Scotland Highland Cattle Club’s 25th anniversary show.
The judge for the event was one of the club’s longest serving members – Roddy McNaughton, of Luncarty, Perth.
He selected a three-year-old heifer from Messrs J & J Singer’s Kintore Castle fold as his champion.
This was Ailsa Emma Dhubh of Kintore Castle, by Uallach Dubh 6th of Pollock, and out of Emma 2nd of Lochinch.
The reserve champion prize went to two-year-old heifer Peigi Padruaig of Killochries, from Ian Adams’ Brathens fold. She is by Padruaigh Dubh of Gilden Vale and out of Peigi Dubh 8th of Inver.
The young handler judge Lesley Lacey chose Beth Noble, 15, as the young handler winner. Results: Senior bull: 1 – Flath of Benmore, Cairncross Fold. Junior bull: 1 – Magnus of Ubhaidh, Ranch Fold. Junior cow: 1 – Eilidh 2nd of Edgerston, Clackriach. Calf: 1 – Connal of Clackriach, Clackriach. Three-year-old heifer: 1 – Ailsa Emma Dhubh of Kintore Castle, Kintore Castle; Two-year-old heifer: 1 – Peigi Padruaig of Killochries, Ian Adams, Brathens. Yearling heifer: 1 – Una of Ubhaidh, Ranch Fold. Pairs: 1 – Kintore Castle.. Young handler: 1 – Beth Noble.
