Entries are open for this year’s Cairngorms Nature Farm Award.
The award, which was launched in 2015 by the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA), recognises a farmer or crofter in the Cairngorms who is making a substantial contribution to the natural environment around them.
Last year’s winner was Malcolm Smith of Auchernack Farm, near Nethy Bridge.
CNPA land management adviser, Bruce McConachie, said: “Farmers in the Cairngorms have a proud history of creating and maintaining some of the best aspects of our unique landscape and we want to recognise that.
“Our judging panel are looking at areas that are currently managed under environmental schemes but they will also be hoping to find people that have gone beyond what’s asked for by, for example, creating wet areas for wading birds, or by planting native woodlands that in time will provide shelter for livestock and wildlife.”
The winner will be named at the Grantown Show, and entries must be made by July 27. More information is available here.
