A huge display of Massey Ferguson tractors will go on show at New Deer Show as part of efforts to celebrate the tractor brand’s diamond jubilee.
The Banff and Buchan Tractor and Engine Club has organised the spectacle of 60 tractors to commemorate 60 years of Massey Ferguson.
“The club wanted to mark this diamond jubilee of Massey Ferguson in some way so we approached the New Deer Show committee with the prospect of displaying 60 different models at this year’s show,” said club chairman, Bill Stewart.
“These will be models from each decade from the MF35 and 65 to the high performance 77 Series of today.
“All the tractors on display are from farms and tractor enthusiasts within a 20-mile radius of New Deer.”
He said a competition will also be held at the show with three classes available for tractor enthusiasts to enter.
The classes are: tractors manufactured between 1958 and 2002 at Massey’s Coventry facility; tractors manufactured between 1958 and 2002 at any other Massey manufacturing facility; and tractors manufactured between 2002 and 2018.
The contest will be judged by Campbell Scott, who up until recently worked for Massey Ferguson as director of manufacturing services for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
New Deer Show takes place next weekend on July 21-22 at Craigieford Park, New Deer.
The judge for the coveted show champion of champions prize is Philip Reid from Aberdeen & Northern Marts, Thainstone, Inverurie.
