Agriculture will remain devolved to the Scottish Government after Brexit, Scottish Secretary David Mundell has said.
There had been claims that the recently published Agriculture Bill would lead to a “power grab” with Scotland losing the right to design its own policies.
But Mr Mundell said the UK Government was not seeking consent from the Scottish Parliament for the Bill and was not legislating in areas of devolved competence in Scotland.
Holyrood would still be able to legislate for coupled and Less Favoured Areas support payments, and the same level of funding was guaranteed until 2022, he added.
On the issue of lost Scottish red meat levies, Mr Mundell said the UK Government remained in discussions with the Welsh and Scottish Governments on the issue.
He said it would continue to work with all parts of the UK to put in place a wider common framework relating to agriculture once the UK leaves Europe.
