A selective trade peaked at 2,800gn at the Scottish Texel Breeders’ Club show and sale at Lanark.
Making that money was the champion, Forkins Bently, a ram lamb from Alistair Gault, Newtownabbey, County Antrim.
A son of last year’s 3,200gn purchase Scotsman Ace and out of a show ewe by Duncryne Uber Cool, he sold to the Clarks at North Garngour, Lesmahagow.
The trip across the water proved worthwhile for Mr Gault, who sold another at 1,900gn, to David McKerrow, Nochnary, Freuchie, Fife.
That was Forkins Bugatti, a son of the 7,000gn Duncryne Uber Cool, out of a ewe by Strathbogie Terminator. Next best price at 1,700gn, was the reserve champion, Haddo Bentley, from the Knox family, Mid Haddo, Fyvie, which sold to Jim Frame, Little Galla, Wiston, Biggar.
The dam of that one is a daughter of Knock Trojan.
From the same pen, Haddo Barcelona, by Tophill Wall St and out of a ewe by Ellen Valley Warlord, sold at 1,600gn to Alan Cullen, Craighead Farm, Carluke.
At 1,400gn, Selkirk breeders Gordon and David Gray sold Ettrick Bobs Your Uncle, a Clinterty You Cracker son which stood second at Abington Show. He went to Messrs Jones, in Hereford.
Leading the shearling trade at 1,100gn, was Cambwell Africa, a Grougfoot Wizard son from Robert Laird, Cambwell, Biggar.
Out of a ewe by Tullagh Pacha, he sold to JP Smeaton, Craggan, Abernethy, Perth.
The sale averages were: 16 shearling rams, £587.34 (+£91.56 for seven fewer sold); 134 ram lambs, £511.76 (-£122.41 for 22 fewer sold); eight gimmers, £465.94 (-£64.71 for five fewer sold).
