Farmers and crofters in the Cairngorms and Isle of Skye have only a little time to register for The Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme.
The programme, which closes for applications on Monday, October 15, is run by the Prince’s Countryside Fund.
The fund was established by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2010. It provides more than £1.2 million each year in grant funding and aims to enhance the prospects of family farming businesses and the quality of rural life.
The resilience programme, which is aimed at dairy, beef and sheep farmers, is open to up to 20 farming families in each of the 15 locations it is taking place in this year.
It sets out to help the farming families in each of these areas make changes to improve their businesses and ensure their viability.
This year’s workshops will include a business health check, and advice on a range of issues including practical cost management and getting to know your finances.
Farming families will be encouraged to look at their businesses, to identify short and long-term aims, and to look at how to make changes to their business.
Isle of Skye producers interested in participating in the programme are asked to contact local co-ordinator Aoife Gould at Aoife.Gould@sac.co.uk or 01478 612993, and those in the Cairngorms should get in touch with Malcolm MacDonald at Malcolm.MacDonald@sac.co.uk 01463 233266.
