Stirling, Strathendrick and Strathkelvin (SSS) Young Farmers’ Club has been crowned cream of the crop in this year’s bale art contest.
The contest, run by the Scottish Association of Young Farmers’ Clubs (SAYFC) with support from Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), attracted 54 entries from across the country.
SAYFC clubs were tasked with including the Scotch Lamb brand in their bale art, to coincide with a major QMS campaign to boost sales of Scottish lamb, while raising money for the STV Children’s Appeal.
The winning entry, as selected by TV presenter Lorraine Kelly, features a sheepdog, sheep and a farmer wearing a Scotch Lamb apron.
John Graham from SSS Young Farmers’ Club said: “We’re hugely proud of the club for creating such an eye-catching work of bale art which we thought really captured the brief of celebrating Scotch Lamb as well as Scotland’s farming industry.”
Lorraine Kelly said: “Judging the bale art competition is one of the highlights of my year – I’m always blown away by the level of talent our Scottish farmers have.”
