Commercial demand for the Limousin breed continued yesterday with an 80% clearance rate achieved when 49 bulls sold to average £5,182 – up £119 on the year for eight more sold.
The champion, Knock Nicol by the 21,000gn Goldies Goldfinger from Albert and George Howie, West Knock, Peterhead, sold for the day’s top price of 11,000gn to Orkney breeders Terry and Sheena Coghill, Muce, Birsay.
Also at that price was one of the youngest bulls in the sale, Burnbank Northernlad by Glenrock Ventura from local breeders, Douglas and Linda Graham, Burnbank.
This one went to the Newhouse herd of Bob Adam at Glamis.
Judge Michael Robertson of Mid Fodderletter, Tomintoul, paid 10,000gn for the reserve junior champion, Homebyres Nistleroy by Fairywater Haig from Jim Logan, Humebyres, Kelso.
The Graham family’s second prize senior bull, Burnbank Millenium by Ampertaine Gigolo, made 8,500gn to the Stark family, South Ballo, Inchture.
