Keith breeder Garry Patterson set a new Limousin record at the breed’s show and sale of weaned calves in Carlisle.
Mr Patterson, who runs the Aultside herd at Upper Forgie, Aultmore, set a new record for a weaned bull calf when his sole entry at the sale went under the hammer for 16,000gn.
The record-breaker was eight-month-old Aultside Overdrive, which is an ET son of Ronick Hawk and out of Spittalton Flush which has bred bulls to 65,000gn and heifers to 18,000gn.
He sold to Messrs Handley, Chapel le Dale, Carnforth, Lancashire.
Perthshire breeder William Lawson, who runs the Windolse herd at Rahalloch, Auchterarder, sold to a top of 4,200gn for 11-month-old weaned bull calf Windsole Ottis, by Lodge Hamlet. He sold to Messrs Kennedy, Seggarsdean, Haddington, East Lothian.
Meanwhile, the Graham family from Airthrey Kerse Dairy Farm, Bridge of Allan, Stirling, led the charge in the Red Ladies Derby show and sale for the third year in a row.
Their Grahams herd sold September 2017-born Grahams Nicki, which was supreme champion in the pre-sale show, to a sale-topping price of 20,000gn.
By Ampertaine Gigolo, and out of Grahams Lulu, she was senior female and reserve overall senior champion at the Stars of the Future event last month.
She sold to Stuart Perkins, Haywood Farm, Radstock, Avon for his growing Hartmoor herd.
Grahams also sold rising yearling heifer Grahams Naughtyspice – an ET daughter of Ampertaine Elgin, out of Milbrook Gingerspice – for 11,000gn to Messrs Barclay, Crathes, Banchory.
The Barclays also paid 12,000gn for nine-month-old Huntershall Nebraksa, by Ballinloan Jaegerbomb, from Cumbria breeder Stephen Nixon.
Another Grahams entry – yearling heifer Grahams Nightingale, by Goldies Jackpot – sold for 10,000gn to Messrs Comer, Braydon, Swindon, Wiltshire.
