Almost 1,000 pedigree beef bulls and females are forward for the February Stirling Bull Sales.
The sales, at United Auctions’ (UA) Stirling Agricultural Centre, take place in two batches.
The first lot of sales on February 3-4, focuses on Aberdeen-Angus, Beef Shorthorn, Hereford, Limousin, Lincoln Red, Luing and British Blue breeds. The second lot, on February 17-19, will feature Charolais, Salers and Simmental cattle.
Group sales director John Roberts said that at 107, the number of Limousins forward was the highest in two years.
He said there would be a dispersal of the Alsnow Charolais herd from the Northumberland-based Lawson family, and a part dispersal of the Wavendon herd of Beef Shorthorns.
The judges are: Tom Arnott, Haymount, Kelso, for Aberdeen-Angus; James Playfair Hannay, Kelso, for Beef Shorthorn; Michael Minto, Billinghurst for Charolais; James Thomson, Hilton of Beath, Kelty, for Limousin; Russell Taylor, Middlebank, Errol, for Lincoln Red; James McDougal, Bassendean, Gordon, for Salers; and Steven Sandison, Millburn, Harray, Orkney, for Simmental.
