Young farmers from Aberdeenshire and Orkney were crowned cream of the crop at this year’s Royal Highland Show.
The Scotch Beef Country Cooks Competition finals, run by the Scottish Association of Young Farmers’ Clubs (SAYFC) in conjunction with Quality Meat Scotland, took place at the four-day event at Ingliston, near Edinburgh.
Four teams competed against each other for the top prize, with Strichen JAC’s Eilidh Davidson and Grace Brown crowned overall champions.
Second place went to Orkney youngsters Jessica Rendall and Rachel Isbister from Sandwick YFC.
Other prizewinners included the member recruitment prize for a club to North Argyll, and the member recruitment prize at district level to Caithness.
Orkney district won the district participation prize.
Meanwhile, Mearns JAC was crowned club of the year.
David Scott from Strathbogie JAC came first in the Scotch Mules sheep-shearing contest.
Lastly, the Young Farmer of the Year award was won by Robert Campbell from Crossroads YFC.
