Pedigree Suffolk females sold to a top of 6,000gn at the Borderway Beauties sale in Carlisle.
The sale leader was a gimmer from Dennis Taylor’s Ballynacannon flock in Coleraine, Northern Ireland.
An ET daughter of Lakeview Innuendo, she sold to Dumfriesshire breeders Iain and Judith Barbour for their Solwaybank flock at Beechgrove Farm, Annan.
Next best at 4,100gn was a January-born ewe lamb from Irish breeder Andrew Wilson’s Castleisle flock.
An ET daughter of Strathbogie A Kind of Magic, she sold to Messrs Owen, Newborough, Gwynedd, Wales.
Thereafter two lots sold for 4,000gn.
The first, consigned by the Barbours at Solwaybank, was a gimmer by Lakeview Harbinger. She sold to Messrs McMenamin, Killygordon, Lifford, Co Donegal.
The other was a gimmer, by Ballynacannon Booty Hunter, from Stephen Sufferin’s Crewelands flock in Co Londonderry, Northern Ireland. She sold to Messrs Delves & Co, Craven Arms, Powys.
Other leading prices included 3,800gn for a gimmer – an ET daughter of Lakeview No Limits – from Mark Priestley’s Limestone flock in Co Down, Northern Ireland. She sold to Messrs Hutchinson & Son, Rookby, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.
Aberdeenshire breeders were also at the sale, with entries from the Birness and Middlemuir flocks.
The Birness flock, run by the Stuart family at Milltown of Birness, near Ellon, sold to a top of 1,000gn for a gimmer, by Limestone Legend. She sold to Messrs Miskelly, Kildrummy, Alford.
In all, Birness sold three gimmers to average £857.50.
The Middlemuir flock, run by father-and-son duo Pat and Rory Machray at Bilboa, Daviot, Inverurie, topped at 1,350gn. Their sale topper, selling to Messrs Stephenson, Piper Wells Lane, Shepley, West Yorkshire, was a gimmer by Cairness Dunkirk.
In all, Middlemuir’s three gimmers averaged £962.50.
