Farmers urged to show the way to Scots agriculture students
ByGemma Mackenzie
Farmers are being asked to become mentors for agriculture students.
Scotland’s Rural College is seeking mentors to help third-year degree students complete a new six-week enterprise appraisal and development module.
Students will be asked to provide a report on the mentor’s business, including its resources, assets and financial performance. They must also develop a plan to enhance an existing enterprise within the business or for a new project.
“The aim of this new module is to combine practical, operational management and financial skills in a real business environment,” said agriculture lecturer Craig Davidson.
“We are looking for farmers who are willing to open their doors and financial operating records to students. It would also be fantastic if any former students would like to give back by supporting present-day students.”
Interested mentors are asked to email craig.davidson@sruc.ac.uk
