Perthshire farmer Jim McLaren is the new chairman of NFU Mutual.
As well as running a mixed beef and arable farm, Mr McLaren is a former chairman of Quality Meat Scotland, past NFU Scotland president, and a past non-executive director for SRUC.
“Jim’s extensive farming expertise and leadership of many agricultural organisations, combined with his experience as an NFU Mutual director for the last seven years, provide the skills required to continue developing our services,” said NFU Mutual chief executive Lindsay Sinclair.
Mr McLaren said: “As a mutual insurer protecting over three quarters of UK farmers, and a strong supporter of the National Farming Unions, NFU Mutual is one of the countryside’s leading organisations and, as chairman, I am looking forward to helping further develop its services for the benefit of members.”
