Advice on grazing methods available at free meetings

Livestock farmers will be given advice on measuring and planning grazing management at a series of free meetings next month.
The events have been organised by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) as part of its Better Grazing project.
“These meetings are a fantastic way for our farmers to find out about several methods that are available to measure their grass, and what software is available for doing so to help them farm profitably,” said QMS head of industry development Sarah Millar.
“Not only will attendees get the chance to find out about how to make the most of the measurements they do take, they will be given the tools to develop their own grazing plan.”
Dr Liz Genever, who is speaking at the events, said: “Grass and forage-based systems offer beef and sheep farmers the ability to be resilient in uncertain times, but careful management is needed.
“Through these workshops I’ll be talking about this as well as arming farmers with the tools to help them manage their systems more efficiently.”
Meetings include one at the Station Hotel in Ellon on October 24, and one at Balnain Hall, near Inverness, on October 25. To register call 0131 510 5476.
