Scottish farmers enjoyed success at this year’s Agri Expo at Harrison and Hetherington’s Borderway Mart in Carlisle.
The steer championship in the commercial calves show was awarded to an entry from Blair Duffton and Rebecca Stuart from Huntly and Insch. Judge Wilson Peters, from Monzie Farms, near Crieff, gave the title to July 2018-born Limousin cross bullock, Dirty Dancer, which was bred by Emily Jones, Lampeter, Ceredigion.
Meanwhile, reserve overall in the baby beef contest went to Loveable Rogue from Sandy Hunter, Wedderburn, Huntly.
Bred by L and E Fowlie, Alford, Rogue is a June-born bullock by Limousin sire Rossignol and out of a Limousin-bred dam.
In the pedigree cattle section, reserve overall and female champion in the Aberdeen-Angus contest went to August 2018-born heifer Retties Lady Rose. Put forward by Richard and Carol Rettie, Methven, Perth, she is by Water End Payton.
Turriff breeders Hamish and Margaret Sclater, from Denhead Farms, Dunlugas, took the reserve Aberdeen-Angus heifer calf championship with Deveron Kleo.
