An in-lamb gimmer from north-east breeders Albert and George Howie led the charge at the Select Seven Sale of Texels at Lanark.
The father and son duo, who run the Knock flock at West Knock, Stuartfield, Peterhead, made 20,000gn selling an Allanfauld Am The Man daughter, in-lamb to the 8,000gn Sportsmans Chieftain, to Muirkirk breeder Alan Blackwood for his Auldhouseburn flock.
The Howies also made 15,000gn, again selling to Alan Blackwood, for a gimmer by Allanfauld Am The Man also in-lamb to Sportsmans Chieftain.
Other leading prices included 11,000gn for another Knock gimmer by Allanfauld Am The Man, in-lamb to Sportsmans Chieftain. She sold in a two-way split to Archie and John MacGregor for their Allanfauld flock at Kilsyth, near Glasgow, and Neil and Stuart Barclay for their Harestone flock at Insch.
Knock also made 6,500gn for an embryo transfer-bred gimmer by Allanfauld Am The Man, in-lamb to Sportsmans Chieftain, selling to the Morgans at Blaencar, Sennybridge.
Hartside Farms at Biggar paid 4,000gn for a Knock gimmer in-lamb to the 40,000gn Garngour Alabama. Also at 4,000gn was a gimmer, by Milnbank American Sniper and in-lamb to the 100,000gn Sportsmans Batman, from Procters Farm, Lancashire.
She sold to the Campbell family’s Cowal flock in Lochgoilhead.
The averages were: gimmers, 69, £2,344.65; ewe lambs, five, £1,344.
Meanwhile, the Lanark Crackers Sale of Texels topped at 22,000gn for an embryo transfer-bred gimmer from the MacGregors’ Allanfauld flock. By Knap You’re the Man, she sold in-lamb to Plasucha Class Act to Procters Farm.
Harestone made 2,600gn selling a gimmer to Fraserburgh breeder Brian Buchan for his Clinterty flock. By Knockem Ambassador, she sold in-lamb to Teiglum Braveheart.
The averages were: gimmers, 57, £1,658.26; ewe lambs, eight, £2,447.06.
