John Deere says it is business as usual in Scotland despite rumours the firm is going to appoint a single machinery dealer for the whole of Scotland.
A company spokesman said: “I can confirm that this is complete nonsense. There’s absolutely no truth in that rumour. There are no plans to make one dealer for the whole of Scotland.” He said the only change in Scotland was a move by East Lothian dealer Thomas Sherriff & Co Ltd to buy Northumberland turf business Greenlay Ltd.
Sharmans Agricultural Ltd in Lincolnshire announced earlier this month that it was being dropped as a John Deere dealer from next October.
The firm said it had been told it was not part of John Deere’s latest global growth strategy.
