Sales of new tractors in Scotland were up 7.4% last year, according to the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).
Figures from the association reveal 1,544 new tractors, over 50 horsepower (hp), were registered north of the border in 2019. This is 12.5% of total UK sales, which rose 1.9% to 12,333.
The region with the biggest sales boost was the Home Counties and London where sales were up 26.9% to 735 tractors, while the county with the biggest decline was the East Midlands where sales were down 16.5% to 621.
AEA agricultural economist Stephen Howarth said across the UK sales of tractors over 240hp were down, and the average power of new tractors fell slightly to 164.8hp, from 166.6hp in 2018.
