Luing Cattle Society exploring options for May sale
ByGemma Mackenzie
The Luing Cattle Society says it is determined to go ahead with its annual pedigree sale at Dingwall Mart in May.
In a letter to members, the society said it and sale operator Dingwall and Highland Marts were closely monitoring the coronavirus situation.
At present, sales at auction marts are going ahead under new guidelines issued by the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers in Scotland.
These include a requirement for sellers and hauliers to leave mart premises immediately after dropping stock off for sale, and for buyers to pre-register before attending a sale.
The Luing Cattle Society stated: “The sale of Luing cattle will definitely go ahead in one form or another.
“In the event of the live sale not going ahead, the society and Dingwall Mart will work together to find the best way to market your cattle to best advantage.
“All methods are being explored at the moment and we are sure the best solution will be found.”
The sale is scheduled to take place on May 20.
