Applications are now open for sheep farmers to discuss future agricultural policy at Houses of Parliament next month
Payments worth £19.1 million have been made to 6,000 farmers and crofters through the Less Favoured Area Support Scheme (LFASS).
Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing said the majority of the recipients were receiving balance payments on top of the 95% LFASS loan paid between January and March this year.
“We know it can be a lifeline payment for many and at this difficult time it will provide a welcome boost to incomes,” said Mr Ewing.
He urged producers to use the money to pay their bills and make investments for the seasons ahead to keep money flowing through the rural economy.
