Farmers and crofters from across Scotland have teamed up to create a video to reassure the public they are doing all they can to produce food and drink for the nation during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The video features 23 farmers, crofters, their families and workforce from across the country.
These include Shetland farmer Aimee Budge; the Stephen family which runs Thorneybank Farm Shop near Turriff; Orkney farmer Pete Moss, and Turriff dairy farmer John McLean.
Other local faces on the video include John Anderson, from Caithness, and Lynn Cassells and Sandra Baer, from Lynbreck Croft, near Grantown.
NFU Scotland (NFUS) Dumfries and Galloway regional chairman, Colin Ferguson, created the video alongside fellow NFUS milk committee member David McMiken, and rural marketing specialist Rebecca Dawes from Jane Craigie Marketing.
“In these worrying times it is important that the Scottish public know that farmers and crofters are still doing all they can to keep healthy, high welfare food and drink on their tables,” said Mr Ferguson.
“Scotland’s farmers have been producing food for Scottish families for generations, and we are determined to keep on doing so through this global pandemic.”
Mr McMiken added: “We wanted to reassure consumers that despite this strange situation, there shouldn’t be any disruption to the food and drink we are able to produce and that any panic buying is completely unnecessary.
“It is important that people listen to the government advice – stay home and stay safe.
“Scotland’s farmers and crofters will take care of the food, drink and countryside while you do.”
