Celebrity farmer Adam Henson is backing an initiative to use farming to educate children about science and maths during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The BBC Countryfile presenter is among a group of farmers and growers across Britain involved in the #LockdownLearning project.
The initiative, launched by the NFU in England and Wales and online farming portal EatFarmNow, provides online resources to help parents teach their children while schools and nurseries are closed.
“Our online resources are all about hands-on, practical learning, using food and farming to help parents teach science, technology, engineering and maths, which are key topics in the national curriculum,” said NFU president, Minette Batters.
“A combination of videos, activities and challenges mean these resources have something for everyone.”
Others involved in the project include TV presenter and farmer Jimmy Doherty, north-east agricultural scientist Dr Jenna Ross and TV presenter and horticulturist James Wong.
