Mr Nicholson said the collapse of the UK oilseed rape market was an example of the impact of allowing lower standard imports into the country.

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) will share the initial findings from the Scottish Organic Canola (SCOCAN) project at the event on Wednesday June 24.
The project, which is backed by £30,000 funding from the Scottish Government’s Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund, is focused on testing different options for growing organic oilseed rape in Scotland.
It follows work between north-east animal feed firm Norvite and a group of Aberdeenshire growers looking at the potential of growing organic oilseed rape for crushing in Norvite’s NEOS plant.
SRUC’s Dr Robin Walker will give an overview of the project at next week’s meeting, while agronomist Andy Cheetham from Ceres Agri Services will provide visual tours of demonstration plots on five north-east farms.
