Combines in action as harvest gets under way in Moray
ByGemma Mackenzie
Combines have started working their way through fields of winter barley as harvest 2020 gets going.
Iain Green, who runs 2,400 acres of arable land with family at Corskie Farm, near Garmouth, Fochabers, started cutting a crop of Sunningdale winter barley on July 17.
His daughter Laura Beattie sent in this picture of the farm’s two New Holland combines in action.
Iain said moisture was good at between 13.9% and 14.1%. However yields were “disappointing” at around 3.48 tonnes per acre.
“It’s back around 10-12% because it’s been so dry,” said Mr Green, who will use the crop as feed for the farm’s pig enterprise.
