Beltex met a strong demand at Lanark with averages up compared to last year’s sale and prices peaking at 4,500gn.
Making that money was a ram lamb from the Taylors at Heatheryhall, Biggar. Named Heatheryhall Famous Grouse, he is by the 30,000gn Buckles Dark Dawn and out of Heatheryhall Adele. He is a full brother to the 10,000gn Heatheryhall Fireman Sam, and sold to the Cunninghams for their Walkerdyke and Avondale flocks at Strathaven.
Cupar-based Andrew Wainwright led the shearling ram trade and received the day’s second top price of 3,200gn, with Todhall Eddie. By the 10,000gn Callacrag Bull’s Eye, he sold to Jim Gibb, Toftcombs, Biggar.
Heading north to Muirton Farm, Alford, Jimmy Young paid 2,100gn for Ryder Ezra, a shearling ram from Brian Ryder, Moffat.
Alastair MacLean’s entry from Heylipool Farm, Tiree, sold to 2,000gn for a shearling ram he bought last year at Carlisle. Vicky’s Excaliber, by Murrays Crackajack, sold to Alistair Padkin, Thornhill.
