Ringlink Scotland has launched a harvest competition to raise funds for Aberdeen Cancer Unit.
The Laurencekirk-based machinery ring organised a charity baling session where nine balers, provided by seven of its members, baled a 90-acre field of wheat straw at Gail and Guthrie Whyte’s Bent Farm, near Laurencekirk.
The competition asks people to guess how long it took the balers to complete the field and the number of individual 8x4x4 bales produced.
Each entry costs £5 and the first prize is a bottle of Fettercairn Malt Whisky, donated by the Whytes, and the runner-up prize is a new boiler suit.
“One of the operators mentioned that he was treated for prostate cancer last year at Aberdeen Cancer Unit and that’s where monies raised will be donated to,” said Ringlink managing director Graham Bruce.
“We’re all pleased that we could raise money for an essential service.”
