This year’s AgriScot event will be the platform for John Deere to launch its new 8000 Series self-propelled forage harvesters.
Building on the success of the previous 7000 Series models, the new range integrates cutting-edge crop analysis and documentation with innovative machine design.
The five new models consist of two nine-litre engine designs and three 13.5-litre engine designs, the largest of which has a wide crop channel.
All models are available with an “i” specification including HarvestLab sensing and yield monitoring software.
The ProDrive hydrostatic transmission is also now available as an optional extra on the new models.
Due to the air intake being behind the cab in the new models, the engine layout ensures an efficient airflow to the rear of the machine, resulting in lower cooling requirements.
The lighter components reduce crop flow resistance and dry sump gearboxes lead to further fuel savings.
The engine position is lower in the forager, meaning that working stability on steep slopes or while travelling at high speed is improved.
The machine has a range of header solutions such as the grass pick-ups ranging from 3m to 4.5m, and Kemper rotary headers from 6m to 9m wide. Kemper maize headers are also available along with the Zurn ProfiCut 620 for whole-crop harvesting.
The new ADS Twin Line dosing system is included in the new models for improved silage additive management.
Operator comfort, visibility and Bluetooth connectivity have all also been improved upon. The new range will be launched to the public at AgriScot on November 19 at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Edinburgh.
