A new competition to find the best sheep farm in Scotland will be launched next month.
Organisers of the AgriScot event, which takes place in Ingliston, Edinburgh on Wednesday November 19, will launch the Scottish Sheep Farm of the Year competition ahead of next year’s event.
Event chairman Andrew Moir, who farms at Mains of Thornton, Laurencekirk, said the event had expanded beyond its dairy remit to now include all sectors of agriculture.
“AgriScot has an established history of sectorial and business competitions. Awards are made each year not only to the Dairy and Beef farms of the year but also for farm business skills exhibited by a Scottish student, the best silage crops and the best new product exhibited at AgriScot,” said Mr Moir.
“The awards are our way of highlighting excellence in the industry and, in turn, helping farmers to pick up ways in which their own businesses might be improved.”
The new Scottish Sheep Farm of the Year award, sponsored by Thorntons Solicitors, will open for entries in spring 2015.
